February Member Spotlight - Linda Jones, The Writing Doula

Linda Jones, The Writing Doula and Creator of AFRObituary

Linda Jones, The Writing Doula and so much more, embodies the multi-faceted aspects of what is often expressed as black excellence. Unparalleled to any human we’ve met, she shares her gift of teaching and writing with the world through many channels and various projects in her own unique and artistic way.

As many know, the art of writing doesn’t come as easy to all as it does to some. As a writing doula, Linda “helps ease the labor of your writing process so you can give birth to the power of your words. She can help you tap into your inner scribe so you can produce work that you can be proud of with reduced amounts of anxiety and stress.”

Her most recent endeavor is the AFRObituary: Legacy Writing Course where she "encourages people of African descent to play a greater role in telling their own stories for posterity." Specifically, Linda states, “Afrobituary is my online, on-demand, pre-recorded course where I provide step-by-step guidance in how to draft your own obituary and also how to write them on behalf of others. The course also teaches how to produce 'griot' legacy letters to give as heirloom gifts and to help ensure that your wisdom, life lessons, and creativity is passed on to future generations!”

Linda's purpose is consistently in alignment with the work she produces and projects she collaborates on. Whether she is focusing on coaching individuals with healing through writing or motivating someone to think about and share their legacy, Linda bridges the gap between personal storytelling and black history.

You can find Linda in her creative zone nestled in a cozy, local coffee shop when she is not facilitating, speaking or coaching.
